Accessories you just couldn't pass up

When I was younger it was Addys winter entertainment because it had a minature mancala game. My cousins and I used to play this all the time, especially when we were up at our cabin which is out in the boondocks with no electricity. So I was really excited about that little set even though I didnt have Addy at that time. Another thing I couldnt pass up was Mollys after school outfit or whatever it was. I was a bit of tomboy so I wore alot of button shirts like that and I loved corduroy pants so I had to have it. This was before I turned into a purist mind you. Was there anything else? Oh yeah! Addys ice cream maker is sooo cute, I loved that one too.

Surprisingly, I didnt really get into Felicitys things (I got her dresses just not many of her accessories) until I was older. I really loved that 1850s prioneer and 1860s civil war eras when I was young (still do) and collected a lot Kirsten and Addys things because of that. I didnt start to really appreciate the colonial era until I got older. Felicity had been my favorite more for her personality and appearence then her collection when I started out. Naturally I spend a lot of time kicking myself in the butt for not collecting more of her things back in 93' when I got her and could have avoided this whole ebay thing [img]tongue.gif[/img]

All of the sudden, my ginormous collection of dolls looks logical. I never actually have to collect for a doll I don't have, lol. But I have to admit, as much as ya'll like Kit's accessories, they just don't do much for me. I think it's because most of the other girls' accessories have significance beyond just the character. I mean, Kit's typewriter is cute, but most girls in 1934 wouldn't have had a typewriter. So I don't much collect Kit's accessories (I will be getting her pressed glass dishes, however, if for no other reason than that my mother loooooves them). Molly's kind of the redheaded stepchild of my doll family. You know, the ignored one. I feel bad about it, but I just wish they'd be more creative with her stuff sometimes. Josefina, on the other hand is totally spoiled. I knew I had to have her piano the day I saw it, and I ended up with her entire collection. So, after rambling for forever and a day, Josefina's accessories were the quickest to come to my house, lol. Sorry about the ramble.

Mayergirl, its ok to ramble! I do too, all the time! Speaking of my bad habit, here we go again...I know what you mean about Molly. I love the 40s but just cant get into her or her collection. Although I did love her summer camp collection, I thought that was adorable. I used to feel that way about Kit too, although I liked her collection better than Mollys. But then I read a couple of her books and I just love her character. I always thought the doll was cute, and now I like her accessories because of the books (although I always loved that desk). So thats where the books come in I suppose. Mollys personality really gets on my nerves, I know shes just a kid, but I see her as really childish and kinda bratty. I mean, who dumps worms on their best friend just because they blew the whistle on you?? I would have to be rushed to the hospitol with an asthma attack if one of my buddies dumped spiders on me!! Just thinking about it gives me the heebie jeebies (can you actually write that?!) [img]tongue.gif[/img]

My absolute favourite accessory is the AGT violin. I play violin (viola, actually, so I 'changed' it to a viola!) and my mom bought the set for me for Christmas right when it came out. It's way too cute!

Other than that I don't have a lot of accessories. I don't know why, but even though I played with my dolls when I was younger, I never had much interest in the accessories.

Someday when I have my own house (and an extra room or two!) I'd love to make an AG room - and at that point I think I'd collect more accessories, like the beds and the tables and dishes. Right now it just doesn't make sense to collect those things because I don't have any place to display them.

I like the flute set, too, and Felicity's guitar, and, believe it or not--Marisol's cat! (He looks a lot like my cat) I also salivate after Felicity's tea lesson, Samantha's teddy bear, Kirsten's friendship quilt, ALL of the "dolls's dolls", and nearly all of their pets. It's just that Jip and Bennet don't do that much for me, sorry; but strangely enough, I think Grace the Basset hound is just precious! No accounting for taste...
So far, I've resisted collecting any accessories, because I barely have room to display my dolls, and I want even more dolls. I didn't used to be very interested in Kit, but she's been growing on me lately, and I've always wanted a PM Josefina--so you see, I'm incredibly pathetic!

There are many accessories that I would love to own...the typewriter, and waffle maker, alot of the dolls dishes...I wish you could add several set of goblets and plates and such to your existing sets so when the girls have several friends over, everyone can have the same. I'm always on the lookout for little goodies! I love the depression era glass and Mosser glass. Kit's and Sam's are my favorite. I have to have the rolltop desk soon. I need Felicity's table and at least 6 chairs... or someone elses could work. I have the Baking set and even Coconut's set. They are adorable!They are perfect for my kitchen. I also have the old AGT grill and it is adorable. I have the old camping dishes and think they are too cute! I wish I had the AGT tent they used to have! The other thing access. that I really want is Molly's radio. I actually woke up dreaming about it this morning! [img]redface.gif[/img] It's sad when you dream about accessories! My daughter really wants Felicity's guitar and we are disappointed that it is also retired! [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img] I also have the flute set and think the little stand is the coolest...it was just like ours from the 60's and 70's. Oh yeah, just one more,,I promise...I have Molly's bike and I love it because it is a replica of the one I had growing up! Alot of good memories go with it!
